Frameless Glass Company vs. Model Glass & Shower Doors in Cottonwood Shores: Materials, Warranty & Service Range

Picking a glass company is mostly about two things: will the shower look good the day it goes in, and who picks up the phone a few years later when a hinge sags? Around Lake Marble Falls, homeowners often end up weighing a crew with an office down the road against a solid Austin shop that covers the metro. So here's a side-by-side of Frameless Glass Company and Model Glass & Shower Doors, a family-owned Austin glass company.

We looked at materials, warranty terms, catalog, and reviews. Anything we say about Model Glass comes straight from its own website or its Google Business Profile, as we found them in 2026.

Understanding Your Custom Glass Options in Cottonwood Shores

Each of them builds and installs frameless shower enclosures. Neither is a one-product shop, either. Where they split is the kind of work each one leans toward.

Frameless Glass Company Product Range:

  • Custom frameless shower doors and enclosures
  • Steam shower enclosures and grid shower enclosures
  • Custom wine cellar and wine wall glass
  • Glass railings for decks, stairs, and balconies
  • Interior glass partition walls and custom mirrors
  • FGC Armor protective coating as an optional upgrade

Model Glass & Shower Doors Product Range (per its website):

  • Frameless and sliding shower doors, plus bathtub doors
  • Window installation, replacement, and window glass
  • Patio and sliding doors, folding glass systems, and railings
  • Mirrors and table tops
  • Commercial storefront glass and office partitions

Model Glass does homes and businesses alike, windows and storefronts included. Frameless Glass Company sticks mostly to custom glass inside the house. That's why steam showers, wine rooms, railings, and partitions each get their own section on its site. Got a lake house with a main bath, a wine display, and a deck that all need glass? One crew can likely handle the lot. If you need windows or a storefront, Model Glass covers that. If your project is all about the glass inside your home, a specialist built around that work is the stronger fit.

Price and Overall Value in Cottonwood Shores, TX

Custom glass pricing moves with thickness, how many panels you need, the hardware, and what shape your walls and tile are in. You won't find a flat price list from either company. Every opening is a little different.

Frameless Glass Company Pricing Approach:

  • Quotes built from on-site measurements and the confirmed layout
  • Simpler framed or semi-framed single doors run from the high hundreds to the low thousands
  • A frameless door with a fixed panel typically lands in the low to mid thousands
  • Multi-panel and neo-angle enclosures reach the mid to upper thousands

Model Glass & Shower Doors Pricing Approach:

  • Free consultations and estimates for residential and commercial projects, per its FAQ
  • Pricing is set at the estimate rather than published online

Speed is where Frameless Glass Company sets itself apart. It has built its reputation on fair, value-based pricing for a high-quality product, and on getting that number to you quickly. Its site promises exact pricing fast, sometimes the same day, and a quote in under 48 hours. Customers say it happens. One Cottonwood Shores homeowner wrote that the company "had Andrew come out and measure the same day, and a little less than 2 weeks later I had a brand new frameless shower." An Austin customer said "quote to install was 4 business days!"

Whichever way you lean, get it in writing. Have each company put the glass thickness, glass type, hardware finish, and warranty on the quote, then compare them line by line. If you're looking for the fastest quote in town, FGC is probably the way to go.

Materials, Service Range, and Craftsmanship

Glass is glass, to a point. The real gaps show up in the spec sheet and in where each crew actually works.

Frameless Glass Company Materials and Range:

  • 3/8 inch and 1/2 inch tempered glass on frameless enclosures
  • Starphire ultra-clear low-iron glass where edge tint matters
  • Hardware finishes including brushed nickel, polished chrome, matte black, satin brass, oil rubbed bronze, and brushed bronze
  • A Cottonwood Shores location at 4209 RM 2147, its third office after Austin and Georgetown
  • A family-run team led by owner Chance Forman, a third-generation glazier

Model Glass & Shower Doors Materials and Range:

  • Clear, frosted, textured, and low-iron glass in 3/8 inch and 1/2 inch thicknesses, per its FAQ
  • Glass sourced from suppliers that meet recognized safety glass certification standards, per its About page
  • Describes itself as a certified, insured, family-owned company
  • Its website describes service across the Austin metropolitan area, with pages for Cedar Park and Lakeway

Both sell the same thicknesses, so don't stop there. Ask who measures, what glass and finish are written on the quote, and who drives out if a door starts to drag. If you live in Cottonwood Shores, Marble Falls, or Horseshoe Bay, ask which office the crew is coming from, too. Frameless Glass Company's answer is easy: the office on RM 2147, right here in Cottonwood Shores.

Warranty Coverage and Support

You can read both warranties online. They don't cover the same things, though.

Frameless Glass Company Warranty Structure:

  • A Limited Lifetime Craftsmanship Warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal use, for as long as the original purchaser owns the installation
  • Glass or hardware breakage after installation, tile breakage, and normal wear such as hard water buildup are excluded, per its published terms
  • Warranty requests go through the local location
  • FGC Armor coating can be added during installation to help protect the glass from etching, hard water, and soap scum

Model Glass & Shower Doors Warranty Structure:

  • A limited hardware warranty for hardware breakage or mechanical loosening, excluding cosmetic damage and normal wear
  • A 5-year limited warranty on insulated glass units for seal failure
  • Claims submitted by email within 30 days of noticing an issue
  • Its blog also mentions a limited warranty on leaking, and windows carry manufacturer warranties

The practical difference is the workmanship question. A hardware warranty covers the parts; a craftsmanship warranty covers the installation those parts depend on. A shower enclosure that leaks because a panel sits a degree out of plumb is not a hardware failure, so it is worth asking any company in writing whether labor and workmanship are covered, for how long, and what the claim window is.

That's where the two differ most. Frameless Glass Company lists a lifetime craftsmanship term. Model Glass lists hardware coverage, 5 years on insulated glass, and a limited leak warranty, but we didn't see a lifetime workmanship term. Whoever you hire, read the full warranty terms first.

Reviews, Reputation, and Real-World Results

Star ratings only line up fairly when they come from the same site. These are all Google numbers, pulled on October 15, 2026.

Frameless Glass Company Review Highlights:

  • 5.0 stars across 11 Google reviews on the Cottonwood Shores listing
  • 4.9 stars across 352 Google reviews on the Austin listing
  • 4.9 stars across 242 Google reviews on the Georgetown listing
  • Reviewers consistently cite quoting speed, punctuality, and clean job sites

Model Glass & Shower Doors Review Highlights:

  • 5.0 stars across 62 Google reviews on its Austin listing
  • Many of its reviews mention the owner, Moody, by name

Both companies are clearly taking good care of their customers. The difference is track record. As the more established company, Frameless Glass Company holds a 4.9 across hundreds of reviews in Austin and Georgetown, which is much harder to do at that volume. The one exception is its newest location in Cottonwood Shores, which holds a 5.0 across its first 11 reviews. So the question is simple: do you want a company with a long, proven record of delivering results? Read the recent reviews on both profiles, especially for jobs that look like yours, and decide for yourself.
